He can have his cake & eat it too!

Here's the "Birthday Boy" & his girlfriend Julie. We just hung out at home after his soccer practice and ate pizza & cake. His party is scheduled in a couple of weeks. We would have done it this weekend, but Kyle's two friends from Scouts are having an Eagle Court of Honor. Hopefully we too will have one of those in our future. Anyways, his birthday party was pushed back a couple of weeks with Labor Day weekend and the beginning of school. His party should be a hoot though. We are renting Sumo wrestling suits and a jousting ring. I'm sure to have plenty to post about then.

Sweet 16

We always knew he had a big mouth...now I have the picture to prove it. He's been making noise since he was born August 22, 1992. I should correct myself. He was really a good baby. I don't really remember him crying a whole lot. He was an easy baby. However the labor to get him here was painful. Let me set the scene for you. It was a hot August day and I was three days over due. I had been 4 centimeters dilated for 2 weeks. I had also just bought my first car the day before. In fact I waxed the car that morning. Anyways, we were having a family picnic and my mother & cousin seemed unconcerned about my tummy tightening. In fact I do believe I remember my mother saying something like first babies take a long time to be born. So they finished their meal and then decided that perhaps I was right and that I could possibly be in labor. I arrived at the hospital about 5:30 and was already at 8 cm. Now up to this point I was really feeling no pain. That's when they popped my water. Now I was singing a whole new tune. I could have clawed the ceiling tiles down. As luck would have it when they came back to check me just moments later I was already at 10cm and unable to get the epidural. To this I say "Thanks Mom!". Perhaps if we would have skipped the meal I would have been more comfortable to next two hours. Yes, it took me two long, painful hours to push out a 10lb. baby boy. Seriously... he has been an awesome kid. He's very diverse. He plays sports, acts, loves scouts and enjoys having fun. I can't believe that he will graduate in 2 short years & turn 18. Where does the time go?

Blogger Rut Aaaarrrggghhhh!

I've been in a bit of a writing or blogger rut lately. Not to mention that I have been knee deep in getting the house organized for my first day back at school. So I apologize for the delay in my blogs.
Above are some pictures from this past weekend's trip to Lewes. We took an awesome 70 minute cruise along the "Sea Gypsy". This pirate adventure included dressing up and comical pirates. They entertained the kids during the whole trip while the parents & grandparents enjoyed the ride. After fining the sunken treasure chest and claiming it's "booty" we were off to lunch. Joshua had a great day as this was one of his birthday gifts from Grandma & Grandpa.
Wednesday brought Kyle home from a long summer getaway at Boy Scout camp. We are happy to have him home. Mom's taxi started right up again as soon as we picked him up. He was already planning on going to soccer practice in just 2 short hours. No rest for the weary here.
Well it's off to bed. Tomorrow is a big day. Kyle turns "Sweet 16"

To-do list

My to-do list seems to be never ending. As soon as I mark one thing off I come up with at least 2 more things to add to it. The boys still have 2 1/2 weeks till school starts, but mine begins on the 25th. I have been busy organizing things in hopes of an easy transition into full-time student/full-time mom. Plus I had a mountain of laundry to do when we came home from camping. All in all I had a great time at the camp. I can definitely see myself camping each year and with the little guys when they are able to attend the Boy scout resident camp.

We have a pretty eventful weekend here as hubby's squadron is having a pool party tonight. Then I'll be up at the crack of dawn for yet another yard sale at my girlfriend's home. Hopefully I can sell all this crap ( I mean great stuff). On Sunday we have a special treat and will be heading to the beach to jump on board a pirate ship and set sail. The boys are really excited. I hope they are as excited as we have to be there at 9am and we live about an hour away. Looks like donuts and pop tarts for breakfast with a chocolate milk chaser. YUM!

Second night

I have survived my second night. Although in the middle of the night I was awoken to the scare of an insect on some kind on me. Perhaps it was only a dream but I sent shock waves through my bunk. Hubby thought their was perhaps an earthquake occurring. We were able to go off camp last night and treated Kyle to dinner and a movie. The "Dark Knight" did not disappoint, however I didn't really dig Batman's voice. He seemed to have a lisp that was just a turn off. Christian Bale playing Bruce Wayne was a different story. WOW! What a hunk. However I will always have a partial love for Michael Keaton as the Batman. I know it shows my age.

There's a reason they call it "Boy"Scout camp

This week hubby & I came up with a cool idea of spending some quality time with Kyle here at Boy Scout camp. He has been teaching here as a counselor for most of the summer and the short 18 hour turn around time he has over the weekend just isn't long enough to really catch up and hang out. So here I am. I am not a camper. I have never professed to be one. In fact I don't like camping at all. With that said..... I am currently sleeping in a cabin with spiders galore on the top rack of an old military style bunk. The spiders I am told will not bother me. Sure that's what they all say. Anyways, my sleeping arrangements were not the best but I was able to catch some sleep overnight. Scouts have it rough here. Breakfast was at 7:30. I was hoping to sleep in, no such luck. I did get to see the different lodges here such as the Nature lodge, Handicraft, Woodcarving. I am also suppose to be going on a long hike today with one of the Nature classes. With all this dirt, sand, weeds & bugs ...... No wonder they call it "Boy" Scout camp!

Party Bugs

Move over Colin Cowie(party planner for the stars) as Joshua is learning the ropes and about to take over. My in-laws threw a combined party this weekend for both of their birthdays. This gave Josh the opportunity to show off his hidden talents. He really enjoyed setting up for the party and butlering the appetizers. After that he put on a diving show with the neighbors kids for entertainment. He truly has a innate knack for party entertainment.

This weekend has also proved interesting as after breakfast this morning we hit the VW beetle car show. Andrew loves "Herbie's". I however made the mistake of saying to him that we were going to a Herbie show. He thoroughly enjoyed walking around and looking at all the Herbie's and their eyes (headlights) but started to cry when I said it was time to leave. He thought because I said we were going to a Herbie show that we were going to see a "show" with Herbie cars. I quickly had to explain and bribe with chocolate to stop the tears. :-) So now I'm trying to talk hubby into buying a Herbie for me, because of the kid of course (wink, wink).
